Financially, truck driving is a pretty nice gig.  Even entry level drivers make some nice coin, with a salary of about $35,000 per year.  There is a constant increase in demand for entry level and skilled drivers.  In just a few years your salary could bump up significantly to a pretty sweet 50k-60k a year. 

If you’d like to work with a partner, see if your spouse is up for the haul.  You could make double, averaging over $100k annually.

Truck driving is physically demanding, so don’t expect a cake walk.  You will be earning your dough.  With that said, it’s pretty easy to find a trucking company that will fit both your needs and financial requirements. 

If you have a pet, there are some trucking businesses that allow your canine to hit the road with you. The trucking profession will keep you away from home quite a bit, so home bodies need not apply.  You can expect to be away from home for up to four weeks at a time.  There are trucking companies that offer flexible schedules which give you the ability to plan when you time home needs to be.  Some trucking companies even have jobs that get you home every weekend.
